A big plot point is that Rocky is neglecting his son Robert (and the rest of his family) while reliving his career through Tommy. My biggest complaint here is that the film is a real downer. Rocky begins training the new fighter but loses him to the glamour promised by boxing promoter George Washington Duke (Richard Grant). A new protege approaches him, the ambitious Tommy “The Machine” Gunn (Tommy Morrison). This one follows Rocky right after the last film’s climax, now suffering from brain damage and forced to retire. Stallone himself gives it a zero out of ten but I wouldn’t say it’s all that bad. The fifth film is widely regarded as the worst and I can’t argue with that.
#ROCKY MOVIE ALL PARTS FULL#
This ranking will totally mix up the chronology, but I’ll try to keep spoilers minimal so you can have as full an experience from this series as I’ve had.įor anyone familiar with the series, this comes as no surprise. If nothing else, I’m happy to share my thoughts, as this is my personal favorite film franchise and it holds a lot of meaning for me. But how does each film hold up, not only on its own, but as compared to each other in the series? I seek to answer this question for my own tastes and perhaps help new viewers who have never seen these movies appreciate them more. The impact Sylveste r Stallone’s films have had is matched by few and surpassed by even fewer. The Rocky franchise is forever embedded in popular culture throughout the world.
